  1. From Scrum Guide 2020: “If there are multiple Scrum Teams working together on a product, they must mutually define and comply with the same Definition of Done.”

So in essence, this will involve some work in syncing up and should impact the “immediate” productivity.

  2. Its productivity is likely to decrease.

The Scrum Team comprises of a Product Owner, Development Team and a Scrum Master. It is self-organizing and cross-functional. It chooses how best to accomplish its work instead of being directed by others outside the team. It has all the competencies required to accomplish the work without depending on others who are not a part of the team. It is designed to optimize flexibility, creativity and productivity.

The optimal size of the Development Team should be small enough to remain nimble and large enough to do significant work within a Sprint. If there are less than three members there may be smaller productivity gains. If there are more than nine members too much coordination may be required. – Chirpy

  3. Thank you guys for the comments. I had chosen A in the first place and was wondering why would it be B.

  4. Indeed productivity overall might decrease – but the questions is referring to the productivity of the original Team. Which most likely will stay the same, as nothing will change for them. The productivity of the other teams versus the original one will decrease,\.

  5. Found the same question in the book “Scrum Question Bank: Professional Scrum Master I (PSM I) and Professional Product Owner” – Vishal Malhotra
The answer is the productivity will decrease, because of the training period needed to be done by the original Scrum Team
    A.

  6. it is A since the team will spend time training the other new scrum teams. (checked that with multiple other sources)

  7. Correct answer is A in my opinion, not B, since the first scrum team should spend time on interacting with the new team and adapting the DoD if needed. Also clearly reflected in some PSM II questions:
    – “The productivity of the original Scrum Team would likely decrease as they would need to take time to assist and support the new Scrum Teams in order for them to perform optimally.”
    – “…, adding or removing additional Scrum Teams working on the same product will impact productivity in the short term. “
