What are two possible root causes of this problem?

Refer the exhibit. Calls from Phone 1 (85541234), which is registered to Cluster A, are failing to Phone 2 (8441234), which is registered to Cluster B. The exhibit is from Cluster B.

  1. IMHO, E can be not the right answer. I would say B and D.
Missing a route pattern on B to reach A could not cause a 404 Not Found when A calls B

    1. I think there are two questions:
      1、A cannot call B, 2、 B cannot call A.
for question 1 , the answer is C, for question 2 the answer is A

      1. No, I think you’re overthinking it.

        Statement:
        Phone A can’t call phone B
Debug is provided from gateway at phone B’s location

        Question:
Why is the call receiving a 404 not found

A 404 error is caused when the gateway can’t reach the destination number

A: The CSS on a SIP trunk is for inbound calls only, not outbound. If the call is seen on the debug of gateway B then the call successfully left site A and was received by Site B.
B: If the inbound CSS on the SIP trunk doesn’t contain the internal DN’s partition the call will fail with a 404.
C: Route patterns are used to match outbound calls. If the call was seen at site B’s gateway then there are no issues with site A’s route pattern.
D: If the inbound CSS on the SIP trunk at site is correct and the call matches a translation pattern but the call fails, then the xlate is either translating to an incorrect DN or the xlate’s CSS doesn’t contain the destination DN’s partition
E: Based off the TO: and FROM: fields in the debug you can see that the call originated from Site A so an outbound route pattern that sends calls from site B to site A won’t come into play.

Thus, B and D are correct.

        1. Edit:
For answer D, replace the word incorrect with invalid. If it is simply translating to an incorrect number the call will still be successful, it will just reach the wrong destination.
