What happens after the IAP boots?

Refer to the exhibit.

A company has an existing Aruba Instant cluster with several Instant APs (IAPs), as shown in the exhibit. The network administrator orders a new IAP and boots it for the first time by connecting it to the PoE switch port shown in the exhibit.
What happens after the IAP boots?
A. The IAP attempts to contact AirWave. If it is able to reach AirWave and obtain the current VC (master) IP address, it joins the cluster.
B. The IAP fails to join the cluster because the administrator has not yet connected to its Instant SSID and provisioned it.
C. The IAP undergoes an election process with the current VC (master). It takes the VC role if it has a higher MAC address unless the current VC is configured asthe preferred VC.
D. The IAP hears the messages from the current VC (master), and it joins the cluster without the occurrence of a new election.

  1. I read a lot into this a while back, and A is infact the correct answer, the order at start-up begins with it trying its DHCP options 60 ( propitiatory for aruba) then option 43.

This is done before listening out for a master becon on the local network.

    1. Hi, but company has not airwave installed, but VC. “A company has an existing Aruba Instant cluster”

  2. D is correct answer.

Whenever any AP boots up it will first go to the listening state and will listen for the master beacon, if it receives any then it will join that master beacons cluster without undergoing any election process.

if it didn’t received any master beacons after 5 minutes of uptime it will become POT master , that means its ready for the election, during this time if any AP boots up it should go under election process.

post 5 minutes if no ap’s detected it will consider itself a MASER and will start sending the Masterr beacon.

    D is the correct answer.
