Member 1 is the commander of a Virtual Switching Framework (VSF) fabric. A power disruption causes member1 to go down. What happens when power is restored and member 1 boots?
A. Member 1 fails to rejoin the VSF fabric, and the error disrupts member 2.
B. Member 1 rejoins the VSF fabric and becomes the commander.
C. Member 1 rejoins the VSF fabric, and member 2 continues to act as commander.
D. Member 1 fails to rejoin the VSF fabric, and member 2 continues to act as commander.
C is the right answer.
When a commander is restored, the new commander continues acting as the commander. VSF always favor the current commander. If you want the former commander to take over as the commander again, reboot the member 2 (current commander)
Also could be , B.
It depends on the priority
“Once ex-Commander is back online again it will merge by re-joining the VSF and a VSF Master re-election is called, since its VSF Member configured priority is higher than one of the Standby it will win the election and become the new Commander.”
I think you will have to assume no priority is set. Else the question would’ve stated that.
This is just for new version, but in case of version 16, member 1 stays as backup
