There are three services: Onboard Provisioning (802.1X service that performs EAP-PEAP for portal onboard redirection, and EAP-TLS for certificate authentication), the Onboard Pre-Auth service (Authenticates the user into the portal), the Onboard Authorization service (Authorizes the Device Type).

    The order is Onboard Provisioning for when they first authenticate via username/password and are redirected to the portal. Then the portal uses the Onboard Pre-Auth and Onboard Authorization. Once the Onboarding process is finished, the client then reauthenticates using the Onboard Provisioning service using EAP-TLS with the installed certificate.
