The AP needs to establish a GRE tunnel and communicate with the controller via PAPI (UDP8211), which means the AP needs IP parameters (IP address, netmask, default gateway, and DNS server) and the controller‘s IP address.
You can statically or dynamically set the IP addresses.
Each AP is identified with a name, which defaults to the wired MAC address. An AP sends its name and apgroup to the controller, and the controller responds by sending any pre existing configuration information back to the AP.
