BranchCache in hosted cache mode would actually be a good choice, however there’s no mention about these computers being on a domain where a branch cache server would be set up.
Nevertheless, the Windows Update Agent uses Delivery Optimization by default so you would still need to disable it first.

Make sure Allow downloads from other PCs is turned Off. You’ll get updates and apps directly from Windows Update and from Microsoft Store with Delivery Optimization; however, you won’t download from or upload to other PCs.

Wrong; BranchCache in hosted cache mode does just that. Instead, you should modify Delivery Optimization settings (Answer A.) in order to NOT download updates from other computers on the network: “Allow downloads from other PC’s”.
