Which action can be taken on a multiaccess segment with OSPF speakers to reduce the performance impact during widespread convergence events?

Which action can be taken on a multiaccess segment with OSPF speakers to reduce the performance impact during widespread convergence events?
A. Separate the network into multiple areas for each new multiaccess segment.
B. Enable LSA throttling in the core to slow link state advertisement updates during times of network instability.
C. Ensure that the elected DR or BDR router can support high-volume convergence events.
D. Verify that fewer than 50 OSPF speakers are on the segment.

  1. The OSPF LSA Throttling feature is enabled by default and allows faster OSPF convergence (in milliseconds). This feature can be customized. One command controls the generation (sending) of LSAs, and another command controls the receiving interval. This feature also provides a dynamic mechanism to slow down the frequency of LSA updates in OSPF during times of network instability.

  2. The answer may not B as well because LSA throttling is already enabled by default. You guys have 50% chances to guess the answer. The answer is decided by cisco. No choice for you to learn what really the answer can be 😉

  3. I believe C is more relevant to the question and listed as a point of review in cisco press book under the chapter “Designing Scalable OSPF Design”

“Designated router (DR) selection: In general, the DR and backup designated router (BDR) on a multiaccess link (for example, Ethernet) have the most OSPF work to do. It is a good idea to select routers that are not already heavily loaded with CPU-intensive activities to be the DR and BDR. In addition, it is generally not a good idea to select the same router to be the DR on many multiaccess links simultaneously.”
