could you please share a link where this is mentioned because I found some Cisco materials where ATM PVC is stated as a supported type and some where is not. not a word about SVI.

Restrictions for PPP over Ethernet Client:
The PPPoE client does not support the following:
PPPoE client over ATM permanent virtual circuit (PVC)
it should be Serial not SVI
