Whilst SSO may the true in many situations where the SSO is used in the truest sense of a “Single Sign On” many organisations use it to simplify the sign on process and enforce certain security standards. For instance deploying MFA to authenticate to services which would normally be accessed using insecure passwords. In those cases the total number of authentication attempts may not be reduced at all and the users may still authenticate for each service they access. In these instances a single step, MFA would reduce the total time spent authenticating.
