you are right, only SHUTDOWN violation mode will shutdown interface
Protect and restrict both still allow for valid MAC addresses to be able to use the interface, right? Someone correct me if I’m wrong please.
you are right. protect will block all the packets from an insecure host, but the interface will still be up, and does not adds anything to the counter.
however, restrict will do the same thing but instead of not adding anything to the counter, will add +1 every time a packet being sent from an insecure host.
