Which two data rates should be configured?

An engineer is configuring a new VoWLAN and wants only IEEE 802.11g/n to be supported. Which two data rates should be configured? (Choose two.)
A. 18 Mbps and higher should be supported.
B. Lower than 24 Mbps should be supported.
C. Lower than 24 Mbps should be supported.
D. 1,2, 5.5, and 11 Mbps should be disabled.

  1. Is a very confuse question, because when u say 12mb should be mandatory, you already implying that you will disable the other ones below 12 . And in theory you also saying that 18Mb is supported because is 802.11G. I’m still not sure which one is the right answer.

    1. Clients G support speeds below 12Mbps, however, customers B do not support speeds greater than 11Mbps, so leaving 12Mbps as mandatory you are leaving out clients B and customers G can still connect at speeds below 12Mbp which complies with the requested requirement “only IEEE 802.11g / n to be supported”.

      then AG is correct

  2. 802.11b data rates are 1,2,5.5 and 11. Data rate, 6 and 9 are less than desired 12mb/s but they are not specifically 802.11b data rates but are lesser 802.11g data rates, thus D and G.

  3. The question is bad because I agree with Guardian that the normal answer is to disable all 2.4ghz rates below 12ghz and make 12ghz mandatory. Answer D, however, leaves out the 6 and 9ghz rates as Muriinos indicates but making 18ghz and above is something you would want to do but doing so does not disable the data rates below 12ghz thus it is a bad question.

    1. 7925G, 7925G-EX, and 7926G Deployment Guide says that

If 802.11b clients are not allowed in the wireless network, then it is strongly recommended to disable the data rates below 12 Mbps. This will eliminate the need to send CTS frames for 802.11g protection as 802.11b clients can not detect these OFDM frames.
“Below 12 Mbps” means 6 and 9 also disabled.
So, AG is the most definite correct answer IMHO.
