  1. This is tricky: NetApp’s StorageGRID object store is very easy to use, but it can be challenging to get all of the right infrastructure together to deploy it, especially if you just want to try it out. But under the covers it’s built and deployed as container images, and recent Kubernetes-friendly enhancements make it possible to use those to deploy StorageGRID in an existing Kubernetes cluster, making it easy to try as well!
Note: This deployment method is not officially supported.

    And:
StorageGRID Webscale is now in AWS. This all-in-one, single AMI implementation provides 5TB of storage in a fully functional installation. Perfect for getting started with StorageGRID Webscale, validating and developing S3 or Swift applications, and getting to know the administration capabilities of the product.

  2. Per the docs it should be ABD
Support for software or hardware-based deployment. You can deploy StorageGRID on any combination of the following:

    Virtual machines running in VMware.
    Docker containers on Linux hosts.
StorageGRID engineered appliances. Storage appliances provide object storage. Services appliances provide grid administration and load balancing services.
