Which of the following statements about backing up logs from the CLI and downloading logs from the GUI are true? (Choose two.)
A. Log downloads from the GUI are limited to the current filter view
B. Log backups from the CLI cannot be restored to another FortiGate.
C. Log backups from the CLI can be configured to upload to FTP as a scheduled time
D. Log downloads from the GUI are stored as LZ4 compressed files.
A. Log downloads from the GUI are limited to the current filter view
TRUE, just see it for yourself.
B. Log backups from the CLI cannot be restored to another FortiGate.
TRUE – FortiGate_Security_6.2_Study_Guide-Online.pdf page 306
C. Log backups from the CLI can be configured to upload to FTP as a scheduled time
FALSE. Log backup rolling instead can be scheduled, including upload to FTP server. FortiGate_Security_6.2_Study_Guide-Online.pdf page 307
D. Log downloads from the GUI are stored as LZ4 compressed files.
FALSE. Only from log backups from CLI are LZ4 compressed. FortiGate_Security_6.2_Study_Guide-Online.pdf page 306
Obs.: It is possible to *backup* logs from GUI to USB. See Comment from “JoeDoe”.
C is incorrect because the “execute backup disk” command is only available on demand, no scheduled time options are available (https://docs.fortinet.com/document/fortigate/6.0.0/cli-reference/122011/backup)
D is incorrect because logs downloaded from the GUI are in raw format (Page 308 of 6.2 Study Guide). Only logs exported from CLI are compressed in LZ4 format.
AB — Fortigate Security Guide 6.0 p276 (B) p278 (A)
Anyone did the exam recently? Is this database valid for 6.0? And 6.2?
B and C is correct.
A is not correct because you can download log in GUI based on current view, including any log filters set which mean it is not limited to current filter view
A its correct, when you press the download log button, download the logs with the current view
B is correct, Page 276 FortiGate Security 6.0
Correct answer is A & B
the C answer concerne the rolled logs
A and B
For sure A is correct notice how the wording of “DOWNLOADS” instead of backups is used. Direct from study guide: “Can download logs on the GUI based on the current view, including any log filters set.
D also mentions Log “DOWNLOADS” and not backups…. .DOWNLOADS from the gui are .log files similar to a text document so D is incorrect
Also it clearly stats that Log “backups cannot be restored to another FortiGate” A & B are the best options in my opinion.
Study Guide Page 306 says A is true however technically you can also download logs from the gui using “copy to USB” which is not filtered.
Fortigate Feature #265285 seems to suggest B is False but it doesn’t mention different fortigates.
Study Guide page 305 says C is true.
Fortigate Feature #(258913 267501) seems to suggest D is true however only when saving to USB.
Seems like a slightly grey question to me…
When i tested on a fortigate the execute log restore option was not there.
That might suggest B & C is correct…?
6.0 cli guide: exec log restore: “… It only available for debug firmware builds. …”
Using simple thinking -> AB
Logs can now be exported to a USB storage device, as Lz4 compressed files, from both CLI and GUI.
B D
r u sure
the question is referring both the gui and cli of downloading and backing up logs respectively
The correct answer is A and B.
very true
D is “questionable”. Downloading logs available as a text, while “saving to USB” available as both, clear text or LZ4 compressed.
