How many IP addresses will be required to meet these design requirements?

Scenario: A Citrix Architect needs to deploy three VPX instances on NetScaler SDX 11500 device to meet the following design requirements:
Three (3) VPX instances must be provisioned on the SDX device.
Instance 1 must be utilized for deploying NetScaler Gateway virtual server.
Instance 2 must be utilized for deploying load balancing virtual servers for XML, Director, StoreFront, and Active Directory servers.
Separate IP address must be utilized for the communication with XenApp environment and LDAP communication.
Instance 3 must be used for deploying the test environment.
In the test environment, NetScaler Gateway virtual server, load balancing virtual servers for XML, Director, StoreFront and Active Directory servers must be configured.
How many IP addresses will be required to meet these design requirements?
A. 14

  1. The question implies SDX setup is done, then SDX – LOM, SVM, XenServer IPs should not be counted =18

  2. Sorry, but:

SDX = LOM, SVM, XS -> 3 IPs
    VPX1 = nsIP, snIP, vIP (NSGW) -> 3 IPs
VPX2 = nsIP, snIP, snIP, vIP (lbXML), vIP (lbD), vIP (lbSF), vIP (lbAD)-> 7 IPs
VPX3 = nsIP, snIP, vIP (NSGW), vIP (lbXML), vIP (lbD), vIP (lbSF), vIP (lbAD) -> 7 IPs

    Total: 20

    Answer: B

  3. SDX – LOM, SVM, XenServer = 3
    VPX1 – NSIP, SNIP, 1x VIP = 3
    VPX2 – NSIP, 2xSNIP, VIP = 4 ( separate IP requirement only for instance 2)
    VPX3 – NSIP, SNIP, 2xVIP = 4 (need 2 IP because gateway and SF use 443 port)
    total: = 14

    Where 18?

  4. SDX – LOM, SVM, XenServer = 3
    VPX1 – NSIP, SNIP, 1x VIP = 3
VPX2 – NSIP, SNIP, 2xVIP = 4 ( vip for CVAD (one IP different ports, vip for LDAP)
VPX3 – NSIP, SNIP, 2xVIP = 4 (vip for Gateway, vip for CVAD & LDAP (one IP different ports)
    total: = 14
    Answer is A

    1. I’m counting 16 – so answer C.

      Instance 1 = 1x NSIP + 1x SNIP + 1x VIP for Gateway vServer
      Instance 2 = 1x NSIP + 1x SNIP + 4x VIP for the different LBs
      Instance 3 = 1x NSIP + 1x SNIP + 1x VIP for Gateway vServer + 4x VIP for the different LBs

      = 16?!

      1. Ok I missed “Separate IP address must be utilized for the communication with XenApp environment and LDAP communication” so there are two seperate SNIP’s for instance 2 and 3

        = 18
