  1. VBR cannot be used as VMTools cannot be used.
Proxy is a managed server within VBR, so contains the Guest interaction proxy.
RPC instead of VMTools will be used, from the proxy to the vm so C
    C. Use the proxy server as a guest interaction proxy

  2. Guest interection proxy it not the same think that proxy server.

Guest interection proxy It refers to:
    Application-aware processing
    Guest file system indexing
    Transaction logs processing

    IMPORTANT

The guest interaction proxy deploys the non-persistent runtime components or persistent agent components only in Microsoft Windows VMs. In VMs with another guest OS, the non-persistent runtime components or persistent agent components are deployed by the backup server.

  3. The same question was found in Rasmus’ practice exam with slightly different options.
    A. Connect the ESXi host to the VM network.
    B. Use the Veeam Backup & Replication server as a guest interaction proxy.
    C. Connect the Veeam Backup & Replication server to the VM network.
    D. Use the Windows proxy server as a guest interaction proxy.

The answer was C in his exam.

    1. I also saw the question and remember the difference was that the VM protected was a Linux server, which was probably why the Windows proxy couldn’t be used.

      1. exactly, Rasmus was talking about a Linux VM, where always the VBR server :
“The guest interaction proxy deploys the non-persistent runtime components or persistent agent components only in Microsoft Windows VMs. In VMs with another guest OS, the non-persistent runtime components or persistent agent components are deployed by the backup server.”

this is a Windows VM, where the GIP role can be assigned to the windows proxy that already exists.
