  1. Product D has an estimated yearly incidents of being two. Why would you choose the product that has the most incidents? Shouldn’t Product E be the best choice because of zero incidents and it’s the cheapest solution?

  2. The TCO for option D is $14,000 over 2 years. Still the cheapest.

*remember to multiply the Estimated Yearly Incidents value by 2… Because this is over 2 years

  3. TCO for 2 years for each product as follows:
    A – 10k(capex)+3k(opex Y1)+1k(opex Y2)+1k (cost of one incident) =15,000
    B – 14250+1000+1000+0= 16,250
    C – 9500+2000+2000+1000=14,500
    D – 7000+1000+2000+2000=12,000
    E – 7000+4000+4000+0=15,000

Therefore D is the cheapest and best “business driven” choice (This means the cheapest. Business is about money)

  4. Product D
Product E total for Solution cost and 2 years of Support Cost is $15,000 (and will have NO costs for incidents)
Product D total for Solution cost and 2 years of Support Cost is $10,000, plus 2 Annual Incident costs total = $12,000
