Which RMC Peer Copy pre-requisites do you need to point out to the customer?

You have proposed a Primera array to a customer for new primary storage. The customer currently has an older 3PAR array that they will continue to use moving forward. The customer would like high availability configured.
Which RMC Peer Copy pre-requisites do you need to point out to the customer? (Choose two.)
A. No license is required
B. 2-port 10 Gb Ethernet Adapter (NIC) is required
C. 4-port 1 Gb Ethernet Adapter (NIC) is required in each array
D. RMC 6.2 is required
E. Target drive type must match source drive type

  1. A and C

    No license for Primera required

    RMC Licensing Requirements Details
The license requirements on storage arrays (for taking snapshots) are:

    • For 3PAR 8000, 9000, 20000 series with All-Inclusive Single-System license suite (or equivalent transition license), no additional license is required.
StoreOnce Catalyst that uses external object storage to store backup data. It is available to all backup applications compatible with HPE StoreOnce Catalyst and HPE StoreOnce Catalyst plug-ins. Deploying HPE Cloud Bank Storage amplifies the low costs of object storage with HPE StoreOnce systems deduplication to enable cost-effective, long-term backup data retention.

    RMC Peer Copy

Figure 7-21: Bidirectional Replication between 3PAR/Primera and Nimble

RMC Peer Copy, as indicated in Figure 7-21, simplifies bidirectional data mobility between 3PAR, Primera, and Nimble and works without any host/hypervisor-specific tools or network-based appliances. It is delivered as standard with the above arrays and can be used in multiple use cases such as: tech refresh, load balancing, test/dev, or edge-to-core protection.

    RMC Licensing
An RMC license is required per storage array device, but effectively, it is only applied to older 3PAR arrays:

    • 3PAR StoreServ 8K/20K, arrays come with an all-inclusive license that includes everything customers need for RMC and all of the plug-ins.
    • Nimble array does not need a separate license to work with RMC. It just needs a minimum Nimble OS ver. 5.0.5.
    • Primera has the RMC included.

    • For 3PAR 7000/10000 series, the RMC Suite license is required.
    • For Nimble and Primera storage, no license is required.

    1. HPE ASE – Storage Solution V4 Guide:

The Peer Copy feature in RMC, as referenced in Figure 11-10, facilitates asynchronous periodic replication between two or more homogeneous or heterogeneous storage systems. Peer Copy is a complementary technology to HPE Remote Copy replication for creating a copy of the data on a secondary storage system. This feature supports data replication across HPE Primera, 3PAR, and HPE Nimble Storage systems.
      Feature details:

      • RMC Peer Copy allows asynchronous periodic replication between two or more homogeneous or heterogeneous HPE arrays. HPE Primera/3PAR/Nimble ←→ HPE Primera/3PAR/Nimble.
      • The transport protocols supported are FC and iSCSI.
      • Prerequisites are:

      – RMC 6.2 or later
      – RMC virtual machine (VM) as data mover
      – HPE Primera OS 4.0 or later
      – HPE Nimble OS 5.0.5 or later
      – HPE 3PAR OS 3.2.2 or later

      • No license is required for HPE Primera, Nimble, or 3PAR 8000, 9000, and 20000 arrays.

      I think A and D are correct
