An engineer must enable EAP on a new WLAN and is ensuing that the necessary components are available. Which component uses E?? and 802.1x to pass user authentication to the authenticator?
A. AP
B. AAA server
C. supplicant
D. controller
I think Jade is right, C (Supplicant).
The controller is the Authenticator. The AP is not any of the 3 components unless it’s an Autonomous AP. The AAA server is the Authentication Server.
In 802.1x there are 3 components:-
Supplicant (client)
Authenticator (the WLC or Autonomous AP)
Authentication Server
So what component passes the user authentication to the authenticator? It has to be the Supplicant
To pass user authentication TO the authenticator…
1. Who is the authenticator? Controller
2. Who pass user authenticator TO authenticator? Supplicant
Then… the component that uses EAP and 802.1x to pass the user is the supplicant.
C. is correct
I would say controller
D
is correct.
The controller is passing the user authentication to the radius server.

The controller is the authenticator. I think is C.
