What is likely causing this issue?

Scenario: A Citrix Architect designed an active/passive XenApp and XenDesktop environment for a customer, where the passive Site serves as the disaster recovery Site for all users.
The architect configured a DFS root for user profiles and redirected folders and configured DFS-R to replicate the user profiles and data to a fileserver in the disaster recovery Site.
During failover testing, no issues were reported; however, today the customer has an unexpected outage in StoreFront on the active Site which causes sessions to start flowing to the passive Site.
The customer reports that several users are experiencing issues logging on and has also stated that Citrix Director is NOT showing any issues for the passive Site.
What is likely causing this issue?
A. DFS-R is NOT supported for use with Citrix Profile Management.
B. StoreFront in the passive Site is aggregating Virtual Delivery Agent (VDA) machines in the primary Site.
C. Virtual Delivery Agent (VDA) machines in the passive Site are NOT registered.
D. User sessions in the primary datacenter are still active.

  1. I think the answer is D. DFS-R is not supported when active/active, but with acitve/passive it is supported. Citrix writes:

One-way replication (also known as active-passive replication) is designed for backing up critical data to a safe repository. This replication makes it suitable for maintaining a disaster recovery site, for example. It can be made to work with Profile Management so long as the passive targets are disabled for referrals, and are only invoked when the disaster recovery plan is activated.

Since distributed file locking is not supported by DFS Replication, Profile Management can only select one target as an NUS. This set effectively eliminates any value of two-way replication (active-active replication), which is therefore not suitable for Profile Management and is not supported. One-way replication (active-passive replication) is suitable for Profile Management only as part of a disaster recovery system. Other uses are not supported.
