I don’t think this question is asking whether or not a device is currently operating or not, in which case D would be correct. Instead, I think it’s asking what would be best indicator of what devices are currently running on the network. If that’s the case, then B would be correct. Nmap is a network mapping tool that can find which devices are running , what ports are open, what OS is running, etc.

I think it could be B but D would give you real time if it were on the network. The question does not say anything about a firewall blocking ICMP either.
