Just my opinion to response to why might not be hardware and why it’s Kernel.
If you rely on internal vulnerability scan, it is easy to be detected (since it scans almost everything).
However, if you are from external hacking, Kernel isn’t easy to be detected (need root/system access).
You have to to get through a lot of thing to be able to achieve it.
Hardware vulnerability on the other hand could be detected by eye seeing, or platform version scanning.
Just some discussion.
A is not correct. I would go with C..
Kernal vulnerability is a typical thing a vulnerability scan easily detect.
