  1. The answer is C as the data needs to be disposed and not the Hard Drives. Approved formatting Methods will completely get rid of the data after multiple passes.

  2. Me too I go with D. The only hic with D is it works for traditional drive (nor for SSD drive). As they do not specify which drive type, I chose D.

  3. You’re right, Sterling. Overwriting with 0s and 1s in multiple passes is the preferred DoD method but that’s not why I think C is correct. The question is asking MOST effective way to dispose of data on MULTIPLE drives. So assuming that the question does not imply reusing the drives, you can degauss a stack of drives in minutes compared to overwriting that same stack of drives.

  4. Since they don’t imply that the hard drives are going to be reused, I will have to go with C. As Degaussing is the most effective way of disposing of data. However if they stated that the drives needed to be reused, then I would go with D.

  5. I am going C. Formatting is not going to dispose of any data, If it were “approved write-over methods” then I would choose D.
