A security technician has been receiving alerts from several servers that indicate load balancers have had a significant increase in traffic. The technician initiates a system scan. The scan results illustrate that the disk space on several servers has reached capacity. The scan also indicates that incoming internet traffic to the servers has increased. Which of the following is the MOST likely cause of the decreased disk space?
A. Misconfigured devices
B. Logs and events anomalies
C. Authentication issues
D. Unauthorized software
Still not understanding the unauthorized software. Seems most likely the logs are filling up the disk space–possibly from the increase of traffic trying to break in and generating the errors. Or are they saying the total disk space has shrunk? Not just available.
“The scan results illustrate that the disk space on several servers has reached capacity.”
I guess they mistakenly said DECREASE in the question. It’s an INCREASE and NOT a decrease. That’s why the provided answer D is the correct one.
Why “Unauthorized software” (D) is the cause of the decreased disk space? I can’t understand
