    EQUAL-COST –

    Default max-paths with same minimum metric (equal cost) = 4 ; you can increase it to 16 for Ipv4.

    UNEQUAL-COST –

    Variance is off by default, (Variance of 1) — 128 is the max variance for Ipv4. 16 is the max-paths for unqual-cost paths as well, I think – (to one destination).

    This defaults and ranges have slowly changed/increased through newer IOSs, so check your router. Also the defaults in IPv6 are different, eg, IPv6 can do up 64 max-paths, with the default at 16, so you really have to check with your IOS.
