A project encountered a problem and reached a milestone. In which of the following documents will the stakeholders MOST likely find information on these events?
A. Issues log
B. Change log
C. Status report
D. Meeting minutes
Meeting minutes should be taken during the meeting so that
discussion items and any decisions made are documented. Typically,
the project manager hosts the status meetings, and it’s difficult to host
a meeting and take minutes at the same time. I recommend having
someone else on the team take the meeting minutes. Meeting minutes
should be distributed to the attendees within a day or two of the
meeting and a copy filed with the project documents.
Two other items that are documented and reported on during the
status meeting are issues and action items. Let’s look at the issues list
next.
Status Reports
Status reports are a written summary of the progress of the project
and are much more detailed than dashboards. Status reports should be
distributed according to the communications plan and a copy retained
with the project records. Status reports might take a couple of forms.
For example, as the project manager, you might require team
members to send you a brief weekly status report that describes the
following items:
Progress since last reporting period
Progress expected this reporting period
Progress expected next reporting period
Obstacles preventing work from being completed
